Beta terms and privacy notice
Plain words first. If anything here is unclear, write to us and we will explain.
Beta terms
Who we are
Tara! is a golf community app for the Philippines, run by its two co-founders: [names, address, to be filled in by the partners]. Contact: [privacy mailbox on the Tara! domain].
18 and over only
Tara! is for golfers 18 and over. If we learn an account belongs to someone younger, we close it and delete its data.
This is a beta
Things will change, break and get fixed. Features may come and go, and we may reset test data. Tell us what goes wrong with “Send feedback”.
Be a good flightmate
- Use your real golfing name or nickname. No pretending to be someone else, a club or Tara! itself.
- No harassment, scams, hate, or anything that puts someone at risk. No betting through Tara!.
- Block and report anyone who makes you uncomfortable. We review reports and may warn, suspend or remove accounts.
Money
Tara! never holds your money. Green fees, golf-day fees and lesson deposits go straight to the organiser or coach through their payment provider. Any refund is between you and them.
Tee times and courses
Tara! helps you organise a round with your barkada. It does not reserve tee times; the host arranges that with the course. Course names and details are shown as we know them and may be out of date.
Your content
You keep what you post (photos, captions, messages, reviews). You let us show it to the people you share it with, only for running Tara!.
Ending
You can stop using Tara! at any time and ask us to delete your account. We may close accounts that break these terms.
Privacy notice
We follow the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act 10173). The personal information controller is [the two partners, names to be filled in]. Data protection officer: [name, to be named by the partners], reachable at [privacy mailbox].
What we collect, by feature
- Account: your email address and sign-in records (time, device type, IP address).
- Profile: display name, optional photo, handicap index, up to 3 home courses, your 18+ confirmation and which version of these terms you accepted.
- Rounds and chat: rounds you host or join, who is in them, and messages in the round chat.
- Celebrations and photos: shots you celebrate, captions, photos and cheers.
- Coaches and lessons: coach profiles, lesson requests, deposit status you report, and reviews.
- Golf days and scores: registrations, payment status you or the organiser report, pairings and hole-by-hole scores.
- Reports and safety records: reports you make or that name you, blocks, warnings and suspensions.
- Feedback: what you send us and which screen you sent it from.
- Technical logs: server and error logs kept by our hosting providers.
Photos are resized on your phone before upload; location and camera details inside the photo are removed.
Why, and on what basis
- To run the app you signed up for (contract): sign-in, profile, rounds, chat, golf days, lessons.
- To keep people safe and stop abuse (legitimate interest): reports, blocks, suspensions, logs.
- With your consent: your 18+ confirmation, optional photo, and showing your name on shared golf-day results.
- To meet legal duties, when the law requires it.
Who sees what
Other users see only your roster card: display name, photo and handicap. Your home courses are shown only to your barkada. Your email is never shown to other users. Reports are never shown to the person reported. Organisers and coaches see what they need to run their golf day or lesson.
Who processes it for us, and where
- Supabase (database, sign-in, photo storage): Tokyo, Japan for testing; Singapore for the live app.
- Vercel (hosting): app servers in Tokyo now, Singapore later, plus a worldwide content network.
- Email provider (sign-in codes and reminders): [provider and location, to be confirmed].
- Cloudflare Turnstile (bot check on sign-in), when switched on.
Data leaves the Philippines for these services. We pick providers with security commitments and contracts that protect your data.
How long we keep it
- Your account and content: until you delete your account.
- Sign-ups never finished: deleted after 14 days.
- Reports and safety records: kept after deletion with your name removed, for [period, partners and counsel to set].
- Technical logs: as long as the hosting provider keeps them, usually days to weeks.
Your rights
You can ask to be informed, to access your data, to correct it, to have it erased or blocked, to object, and to get a copy in a portable format. You can also complain to the National Privacy Commission (privacy.gov.ph). Write to [privacy mailbox] and we will answer within 15 days.
Changes
When these terms change, we ask you to accept the new version before you continue.
